I have been in or around social media for quite a while now. The first time it came to my attention was when someone talked about a website called Bebo. As with many others the next social network I heard about was something called Facebook. Since then things have changed. While these were initially ways to well waste time and build virtual farms I began to see them as tools that can be used for a great variety of different reasons. I used them in college to help do research and they provided me with great insights for my thesis. From this I began to realise that you could use these not only for your own use but also to help your career.
- Things never stop
- Get on networks and learn how to use them
- Always be learning
- Take a timeout
Social never stays still
As with many others my day begins with checking up Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Not only can I see what my friends are talking about but I can also see what’s going on around the world. At the click of a mouse we now have access to an amazing amount of information. The #limerickhour below shows just how quickly things move on social media.[bluetext] BlueChief Resolution – Being able to harness this to help not only myself but others as well. There are sooo many different networks
I’m not going to lie, I’m kind of addicted to social. At the minimum I have profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Google Plus each of these has their own unique strengths. Whether it’s through networking with like minded people on LinkedIn or sending out a picture of a TV show I recommend on Instagram there’s something for everyone.[bluetext] BlueChief Resolution – Not only get on more networks but find out the best way to use these networks. You’re always learning something new
This is one of the things that I really like about social media. There is always a new network or some change has been made to an existing network that you need to know about. As with all other things practice makes perfect. The more you use the tools the easier they become. By doing this and finding the best ways to use these various tools you can make max use of each network. As with everything it can be a challenge to begin with the more you do the more you learn.[bluetext] BlueChief Resolution [/bluetext]
Take a timeout
With the sheer amount of info out there it can be a risk of feeling overwhelmed. Don’t worry it happens to us all. One tip I would give here is take a time out. Have a time each day where you break away from your phone, tablet or laptop and just relax. This not only helps you recharge your batteries but it can also help you just get away from things.[bluetext] BlueChief Resolution – Find something you like and put the phone away. For me that’s playing 5 a-side a few times a week. [/bluetext]
Want to learn more?
These are just some of the reasons that I love using social media and being around on a daily basis. If you have any questions or want to find out more for yourself or your business you can find me on Twitter and LinkedIn.
